The important factor is that your domain name relates to your niche, or subject of your website. It is also important to understand how search engines look at keywords. Spaces are important, as we just found with light houses. So are singular and plural forms. Most distinguish between the singular and plural, and if you want proof try both in any search engine. If the result lists are different then numbers count. You cannot use spaces in domain names and have to use dashes instead.
Your domain name should only be chosen when you are certain of the general description of what your website is about. You should then carry out keyword research and find out what kind of words other people are using to find your product. You should then use these words to find out how many other web pages are using them. Finally, you should choose a domain name that others are liable to use when seeking your product and for which there is not too much competition.
However, don’t let competition frighten you. Millions of web pages are not properly optimized or have very poor content and are easy to beat in the race to the top. If you choose the right domain name and optimize your web pages you at least have a start. There are many other techniques you can use to get a good listing in search engine indices and the choice of domain name is just one of them.
However, if somebody looking for your product sees a website with a name that relates to that product, then are more than likely to click on the site. If you known how to choose a domain name and how to carry out keyword research, then you will have a better chance of success than if your domain were randomly selected.
